How does a Fire Alarm System work?

The most important function of a fire alarm system is to to detect a fire and alert the occupants so they can leave the building quickly with little or no injury.
Fire alarms can be divided into two different types, conventional and address
able. A fire alarm consists of the following devices strategically located for maximum efficiency:
·   Control panel
o   Central processor of the system that produces two different outputs, an alarm and a trouble.

o   Takes signals from the fire detection devices and causes an alarm by operating the signal devices throughout the building.
o   It monitors the wiring, devices, batteries and electricity for faults which limit the capability of the system.
o   It shows trouble through audible and visual indicators on its front panel.
·         Automatic fire detection devices
o   Smoke and heat detectors.
o   Smoke detectors are alerted by smoke and heat detectors to go off when the temperature rises at a fast rate or to a certain degree.
·         Manual stations
o   After noticing a fire a person can pull the manual station when leaving the building.
o   This makes people aware there is a fire and they need to leave the building.
·         Signal devices
o   Bells, horns, chimes, speaker and strobes.
o   The control panel triggers these devices to alert the tenants that a fire has been identified and they should leave the building.
We also provide monitoring capability that can be added to the fire alarm system to contact the fire department, fan shut down, close or unlock doors in the event of a fire detection.

  11. I've always been curious to find out how fire alarm systems work. I think it's really interesting that there are both conventional and address able fire alarms. It's also interesting that there are fire alarms that are capable of closing or unlocking doors when there's a fire. That seems like that would be a useful function when there is a fire emergency.

  14. It's really helpful to see how the whole fire alarm system works. It's interesting that they monitor wiring and things and then alerts you if there is an issue with any of that. It would be good for me to get one installed in my card store pretty quickly, especially one that's a little more advanced like the system you mentioned. http://bevansecurity.com/services/fire-services/fire-alarm-installations/
